Caixa Mágica

O2H Lab is the research centre where Linux Caixa Mágica - the portuguese Linux distribution - is developed.
Caixa Mágica is widely used in Portugal and has several government contracts to provide software.
This effort is supported by a contract between ADETTI / O2H and Caixa Mágica Software that creates the framework of technology transfer and costs support.



  GRITO






GRITO project proposes to build a data grid for digital preservation that can be used by any kind of organizations that need to provide data
integrity on a large time scale. Examples of such entities can comprise public or university libraries, non-profit organizations, etc.
The goal of digital preservation is to ensure that the information objects, coded possibly according to multiple digital schemas, remains accessible to
users over a long period of time.
Partners of GRITO project are INESC-ID Lisboa, ADETTI / O2H, IEETA/UA and Intraneia.
GRITO is funded by FCT.

GRID-PT
GRID-PT is re-equipment project in the scope of RNG (Rede Nacional de Geofísica) and formed by Instituto Superior de Ciências do Trabalho e da Empresa (ADETTI / O2H centre),  Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa  (OAL, SIM e CGUL centres) and Instituto de Meteorologia.
During 2007 the following Grid nodes will be installed over the institutions (previsional):
  • ISCTE/ ADETTI / O2H: 160 INTEL CPU core, 3 TB
  • FCUL / SIM: 160 INTEL CPU core, 3 TB
  • FCUL / CGUL: 120 INTEL CPU core, 6 TB
  • FCUL / OAL: 120 INTEL CPU core, 6 TB
  • IM: 120 INTEL CPU core, 6 TB
GRID-PT is funded by FCT.

European projects

O2H Lab provides research support to Caixa Mágica in EDOS project.
EDOS is a research project funded by the European Commission as a STREP project under the IST activities of the 6th Framework Programme . The project involves universities - Paris 7, Tel Aviv, Zurich and Geneva Universities -, research institutes - INRIA - and private companies - Caixa Magica, Nexedi, Nuxeo, Edge-IT and CSP Torino.
mancoosi-red O2H Lab provides research and scientific support to Caixa Mágica in MANCOOSI project. Mancoosi is an upcoming European research project in the Seventh Research Framework Programme (FP7) of the European Commission. The project is situated in the FP7 theme Information & Communication Technologies (ICT), Challenge 1: Pervasive and Trusted Network and Service Infrastructures, Objective 2007.1.2 Service and Software Architectures, Infrastructures and Engineering. The project is scheduled to start early in the year 2008, and will have a duration of 3 years.

Final year academic projects

O2H Lab hosts final year projects for ISCTE students and Summer school internships.

ISCTE-IGE 2006/2007
Linius project is a customization of Linux Caixa Mágica to the Ministry of Justice. The goal is to provide a Linux distribution to be used in Ministry of Justice's desktops.
Students had worked on the project developing new tools such as Matrioska (a thin client image generator) and CMinstall (a installer for web-based RPMs).

ISCTE-IGE 2006/2007		 Compiére is a open source ERP & CRM developed in Java..
Students had translated, configured and deploy for a pilot client.
Documentation was provided for future Compiere deploys.
